Permits for AD

A biogas plant treating category 3 Animal By Products material will need to obtain the approval of the following regulators:
- County or Borough Council – planning permission.
- Environment Agency – Waste Management Licence both for the plant operation and for landspreading the bio-fertiliser.
see website for further detail. - State Veterinary Service – EU Animal By Products approval. (only if ABP material is used). see website for further detail.
- Local Authority Trading Standards Department – On-going approval.
A PPC permit is not normally applicable, but current regulations are uncertain, especially regarding the production of energy from waste, so a check should be made with the Environment Agency.
